My dad is very enthusiastic person. He always engages in talks and discussions with everyone. He doesn’t even spare my friends and little cousins. And when with kids, he asks all sort of questions, ask them to strictly reply in English only, cross questions them, more youthfully sarcastic comments follow. My friends tend to get scared away. My roommates during my engineering career wouldn’t stay in home when he is around. My school friends wouldn’t dare to knock the door and call me for playing; they prefer shouting from the road and call me out. My friends would say to me,” tumare dad to mast baat karte be “, bahut dar lagta hai unse baat karna”.

And never have I found any other friends or cousins dad talk the way my dad does. But sometimes they can misunderstand the talk and sarcasm. Once my cousin seriously passed a comment in my absence that my dad irritates people around. Yes he does. I feel bad, awkward . Probably that’s why I warn my friends beforehand the presence of my dad around. Anybody talks bad or passes comment, it pains. I confronted my dad and explained him the way I feel when someone talks about him behind his back. He agreed and since then the talk is usually just formal between my dad and my friends. But sometimes I prefer he do the legpulling.

Then this is how we are. We are emotional. No matter how awkward things get, we can’t listen bad about our closed ones. But we are human; we are quick to react, quickly to make fun of anything that tries to tease us.

The whole Kapil Sibal fiasco unfolds in the similar way. We on twitter were all quick to react, quickly made fun of him for his opinions about the contents in the social media.

The tweets flow, he is condemned, he is slapped, he is criticized and what not. We all are part of a systematic fall down of a man; forget what he is or who he is or what he has done.

He wasn’t against “Freedom of speech “. Frankly he said that, he is against the content of the free and social media. The funny caricatures, dummy drawings, the cartoon figures of politicians, depicting utterly wrong information and cooking up stories of vulgar fun among the masses. What for? Yeah What for??

Just for a minute’s fun and laugh. Just because we want that number of likes and shares to go up exponentially is it. Just because we want the most number of RTs is it.

Yes!!!! Just for the 15 minute fame. Isn’t it?

Mr.Sibal isn’t planning to ban the free and social media like china.

But seriously isn’t the content wrong?? Ask yourselves. We all have done the mistakes by hitting the share button. Haven’t we?

Would we agree and keep quiet if someone creates a dirty caricature of our closed on and shares it on social networks. Is this the freedom of speech we are talking about?

There are still many nicer and better ways of voicing our opinions and concerns. Provoking the people and causing hatred and creating vulgar images isn’t by any means gonna help in what we want to achieve. If achieving likes, shares, RTs and stats is your aim. Then go ahead.

But next time before sharing or RTing anything offensive just for fun, let’s think and step into the shoes of the concerned family members.

What would we face today if we were part of MMS family or Kapil sibal’s family or be it anyone.

Can we cope up with all the hatred and awkwardness among the society that you I and they are a part of??

Get Ready to Get Judged : This Is Twitter

For better part of my life, I was inactive on twitter. As they say, “Desperate moment’s needs desperate actions” and thus I ended up on twitter. Facebook when compared to twitter is milder in sorts. Yes in all departments. But stuff does happen on facebook as well, but most go unnoticed. Not many celebrities are on FB as on Twitter. And moreover my friends would judge me as a crack headed if I share “What’s on my mind “every minute which is so unlike on Twitter. Everybody here is like me.

Twitter is different, Every time I logged on I find my TL very vibrant, very debatable, very entertaining. Everyone has his/her foot in somebody’s mouth here. Even the most introverts of introvert would want to speak his/her mind out on twitter. It doesn’t matter if people listen to you or not. But at the end of the day you will feel happy and satisfied that you have spoken what you wanted and not what you had to.

If you have quite a number of followers, believe me even you’ll not be spared. We Indians are basically cynical in our thought. We are a nation of hypocrites. Yes. Go ahead Judge ME!!!!

I have done and will continue to do my part of judging others on twitter. The Gandhi kid gets bashed every other day (I hope he doesn’t have a fake twitter profile, he would rather die than read the tweets!!). Anna has his fare share of support as well as his retractors (I have been cynical about his whole cleaning India Movement and nothing more to say. And yeah He is neither Mahatma nor Gandhi). Poonam Pandey despite all the sarcasm around her will never understand that she is being bullied and used (Well she is here to be used?? Right).

There are many many twitter profiles/celebrities that get bashed for their one wrong move. The FTN debacle about Sri Sri Interview turning out pre recorded lead to huge cursing of both FTN and Sagarika. In fact she has been apologizing to all on twitter. I don’t know why. Just one wrong move and tweeple were all over maligning CNNIBN, her, FTN. Just one wrong move and all your good deeds vanish. Why should she apologize? Tweeple are here to complain/talk shit and nothing more. The people here will not talk about the good you do, but are always ready to hit the RT when something trends. (And Yes I am a part. So stop judging me and read!! )

One wrong movie by SRK and he is laughed upon here on twitter, SRK fails so sallu trends, Illogical but happens. Come Diwali and people start about pollutions and bring statistics to validate their tweet. But nobody will talk about the pollution their ACs cars bikes cause all through the year. Come BakariEid , mass killing of animals trends, they ll never think how many chickens they have eaten ( And vegetarians even the leafy vegetables are living things :P so STFU ). Come Christmas, Mass cutting of tree ll trend. Ahhh had enough.

Rahman gives some awesome Rockstar music and tweets spread about his past where he copied tunes. MMS speaks out, he is critiqued, He doesn’t speak, he is still is criticized. Price hike. Rollback. Oh MamtaDi comes to rescue. All hail. Next day. Mamta Who?? Amen!!! .

No matter how much development NaMo does for gujjus , he still has the riots to haunt him..

Mallya’s KF airlines to be bailed out. All bounce to tweet. Does a liquor baron need it? He lavishly spends money. Makes Bikini calendars. Why support him??

But the same people would still wanna watch a thrilling RCB encounter. Spend cash to watch rubber burn on multimillion dollar roads and not mention BEER.

Well if I go on like this, I can talk about many instances about Oh yes Kiran Bedi , kejriwal , Bhushan , Digvijay , Advani , Aginvesh etc etc .

In short this is Twitter for you. Do join. Cause its fun. You get to listen to lot of shit and fuckery and this shit carry proof. Not many media houses show you the truth like twitter does. Yes not even the cynical Arnab of TimesNow!!!

And as a loyal tweeple I managed to talk about the dark side of Twitter. But it does have a good side. You get to meet lots of really nice, friendly people. Socializing improves.

Need of job, people here are ready to recommend you (at least I found some really good people), Earthquake or caught up in Mumbai rains or a terrorist attack. People here are ready with news/RT/Help lines/Concerns/open up houses for the needy. Every kind of people is on twitter. When the right time comes. They trend.

PS : When one point fingers on the other, one should not forget 3 point towards him. But this rule doesn’t apply on twitter. So feel free to talk your shit out here. Cause in the outside real world no one s going to hear you. Understand!!

The Pursuit : Part One

Life is a bitch. It never gives you peace of mind especially when you want it the most. The train heading towards Vasco Da Gama was my bitch here. The Hubli station was in stillness until the train appeared from nowhere and woke me up. The beautiful dream bubbled off and I found myself in between some tired travelers staring at me like I am some culprit. I stood up and started moving towards the entrance as the policemen was fast approaching me. Somehow he caught up with me. The stench of pan took me to highs of vomiting as he asked me to show my ticket. Luckily I had the ticket and I escaped.

I was cursing my fate. My mobile failed to blink and I was finding it hard to blink. Again I was back on the roads for a breath of air. The hour hand was moving slowing approaching 2 AM. The chill was soaring. And I was finding it hard to keep my hands apart from each other.

The train arrival led to opening of some small tea shops. Some respite to my stomach finally. I found a place for myself that was least dirty and slept on the floors of the station lounge. The fear of being robbed or being licked by dogs never actually allowed me to close my eyes. I was so damn tired that I finally gave in and closed my eyes only to be woken up by the sound of lathi stick.

The train I was to board early morning would arrive on platform 3 I heard. So I moved over there and I was a loner on the platform. No lights, no souls, no dogs. It was only me and the chill of the night. I found a bench and tried going back to my sleep. But everything seems so eluded from my mind. The shivers increased and my body couldn’t resist it. Opened my bag and wore another piece of shirt over the existing one. But still my body trembled.

Lying on the bench I just wished the train would arrive on time. But fate had other plans. The people gathered around by 4:30 AM and I was still lying on the bench. Later I inquired with the coffee walas and they told the train never arrives before 5:30 AM. Amen. He told and my clock seemed stuck forever. Walking the distance of the platform made me realize the time. 15 min past 5 AM the long wait for the train ended.

It was a general train, all through. I managed to sneak in just to find that I ll have to stand with practically no movement. The old man near me found a cushion seat on my legs. I couldn’t resist but kicked him. In the process I lost my foot s place. Every station the train stopped and the density of people would increase. I was darn sure the train wouldn’t reach in time but still I had hope and asked the man beside me. He told by 10 AM I ll reach Bagalkot. That was another 3 hrs of standing empty stomach.

The SPB chart buster song Bahut pyaar karte hai form Sajaan was played a minimum 50 times from different persons on their loud china sets. The song is really good and romantic and I would immediately lose myself in my thoughts. But oh so many times , I started hating it. And add on to it the bidi , pan odour. If I was given a chance I would have died rather than take that journey. Just for her I thought. Just for her.

Inside Steve Jobs : A Technical Introspect by A Cynic

As a student of engineering, what is more important for me is the way a system works under the hood and not the outer glitz and glamor.

Recently Steve Jobs passed away and the world mourned him. The newspapers read “An era of technology came to an end on October 5^th when Apple Inc founder (read co-founder) and former CEO passed away “. Further he is credited for all Apple products post his return to the company. All through if you notice the actual men behind Steve Jobs were never acknowledged. Neither has Steve himself ever said it.

And what I found while reading his wiki page is that he is referred as co-founder, a business magnate and an inventor. The inventor part irked me. Call him an innovator.

No qualms, but an inventor??

Many think that Steve Jobs is the talisman behind the iPod, iPhone, iPad… No isn’t. He wasn’t technically capable of even writing a code. Yes!!

Steve had an instinctive brain. His lone aim in life was to make money (fact he never gave scope for competition, wasn’t a philanthropist) . If I not wrong, he was a cunning fox, very street smart man.

Nobody knows about the “Other Steve” behind Apple Inc. He is Steve Wozniak, a computer scientist and electrical engineer. He worked in HP Company where Jobs would attend after school lectures and later he was hired and worked under Wozniak. The friendship grew and at one instance Jobs literally used Wozniak to make money. At Atari Inc the game “Breakout” was being conceptualized and Jobs was given the responsibility to design the prototype. Jobs was being offered $750 for it with extra $100 for each chip removed from the original 100 used. He said he would do it in 4 days. Jobs knew his friend Wozniak would do it and hence he stuck a deal with him for a 50-50 share of the earnings. After 4 sleepless nights Wozniak completed it and reduced the design by 50 chips. So according to the deal Jobs had with Atari, he was paid 750$ and an additional 5000$ for the reduced chips. But the smart Jobs (read GREEDY) gave Woz only 375$ and kept 5000$ for himself.

Apple 1 and 2 both were completely designed by Steve Wozniak and all that Steve Jobs did was to sell it. The “other Steve” was the man behind the creation of Apple Inc. Woz never intended to start a company and make money but Jobs was. It was HP s loss that they rejected Woz’s creation which later went on to revolutionize computer industry.

With the taste of success, the ego and greed grew and at the same time Steve Wozniak met a fatal flight crash and the next Apple computer 3 failed in design and logic as Woz wasn’t involved. Without him Jobs faced a lot of problems in his design dept. and hence started recruiting CEO s to run his company and his errant behavior and bad temperament eventually led to his ousting from his own company. Even the success of Macintosh couldn’t help Jobs.

Post his ousting, He found Next which was later acquired by Apple which lead him to come back to his company as CEO. That is where he found his new talisman Jonathan Ive.

Jonathan Ive became his new best friend only after Steve Wozniak. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple Inc. He is the man, irreplaceable in Jobs life says his wife.

You might have used an iPod,iMac,iPad etc and you might have thanked Steve Jobs for the masterpiece. But Jobs isn’t the man responsible for it. The little known Jonathan Ive is.

He is not credited in public. Recent report says that Jobs always took credit of Ive s design. And that is what even we have been seen all through. Steve Jobs always took credit of others creation but this never stopped him from criticizing the others for copying and piracy.

PS: I have nothing against Steve Jobs. This is just my personal view and I wanted to learn about the actual people responsible for Apple Products. There is no denying about the fact that Steve Jobs was a tough CEO. I'm Bitch :D

Indian Rituals and the Science behind them: Y Not We Change

We are the modern society. We question more and act less. We are ready to criticize anything and everything. And when it comes to traditions and rituals we tend to be more cynical about them. Ours fathers usually don’t have answers for our “why we do this. Why we do that”.

“Science and faith “… “Science and God”.. These are some topics that have been widely discussed and debated upon. I always never took a side on such topics. For me both coexist.

So here I am writing some rituals and the science behind them as why they were performed and why one should stop performing them now.

Since it is diwali time, let’s start with that only.

Bursting crackers during diwali:

Ok for all. Diwali/Deepawali is called the festival of lights. It is celebrated for many many reasons. You might wanna check its wiki page.

Science: the reason for bursting crackers is a way of communication with the heavenly God and informing him that all is well down here on earth. Yeah it’s not Science. But people should know as to why crackers are burst. So the very fact of bursting is void because no human down here is happy/satisfied (Fact).

Another reason is that the bursting of crackers, the smoke , the pollution causes the germs/bacteria/mosquitoes to die which are on a rise since deepawali falls right after the rains.

Now that we have the Hit/Goodnight/Banish and many more such brand of mosquitoes killers. Do we need to burst crackers? Ponder?

Next ritual is the overtly controversial Dowry.

The dowry ritual happens during the marriage time. And I don’t need to write about it as many would know why it was/is being performed.

Science:

Dowry originated in the upper castes. And I don’t understand why all Indians resort to such rituals. Common all Indians are not upper castes. Originally dowry meant “stridhan” meaning “stri” + “dhan”. Stri meaning the bride and dhan meaning money. It essentially meant the money belongs to the bride who brings it from her family incase the man dies. But things changed and the smart Indians modified it to their own use.

Another reason was, marriages in India used to happen when children were young and small. So the girl brings in some money/utensils/stuff so that the new married couples can adjust till the man finds a job to run the family.

Time to ponder? The youths today don’t want to get married until they are capable to take care of family. Should dowry be given? Even if the groom’s family doesn’t ask , we have brides family that give money/utensils as a practice of ritual and the grooms family is not ashamed to take them as well. Damn saddening.

The chanting of OM:

Every chant/shlokas have this Om at the beginning. Many people have many meaning to it. The small children refuse to say chants and all.

Science:

The word OM has more science to it than any another word. It has specific posture that need s to be maintained while chanting it. The frequency of chanting OM has been proved to reduce heart rate and breathe rate. This in turn helps reduce tension. Apart from this there are many uses of chanting OM. Do Google.

Menstruation and science:

During this period the women is barred from doing household chores and godly matter. And in some cases the women is asked to sit aside for a period of 3-4 days.

Gals usually feel awkward and refuse. They compare it to untouchability and all. Quite evident.

Science: During this blood loss period the women is barred to perform activities. Reason is to give them rest. This period can be physically and psychologically distressing. Hence the rest.

And in olden days the hygiene was a big concern and hence they were asked to be separate and not perform godly affairs. But at this 21^st century the hygiene levels of a house is improved. The act of making them sitting alone is not valid and needs to be removed.

The donations we do:

There is ritual in Hindus, that whenever there is a big ceremony being hosted then the host tends to donate/present gifts and stuff to people who attend. In the earlier days it was more of joy of giving. Altruism was the reason behind such donations. But nowadays people find it as additional monetary burden. For the rich it becomes a status symbolism and for the poor it is a burden. For the middle class, well they are confused. They have to maintain the money as well as save some respect.

The middle class in order to satisfy both tend to purchase low quality stuff sometimes only present to some and ignore the others. This is not what was preached to us. When it was not taught why did we adapt it?

The main aim was donations to poor. This is what our puranas taught us. Donate to Brahmins. In the present scenarios the Brahmins are wells settled. So donate to beggars. No we don’t do that. Do we?

PS: There are many such examples like the above. Let’s not criticize the traditions as they are useless and illogical. All rituals and traditions have their meaning and logic's but they applied to the old era.
Now the time has changed. As and when the times changed our living style and surrounding also changed. So why not our traditions and rituals. Why should we bind our present generation to those old ideas? Let’s follow only the essentials and dump those unwanted.

Every woman gets married leaves her family behind and walks into a new family. It happens in India. A tradition. But nowadays families are nuclear. The emotional attachment is lost in transition. I don’t even speak much to my grandparents. Just the customary talk, Tats all.

When young, every summer holidays we used to make a trip to the village where all the cousins would come together and the big family meets and keeps the attachment tight. But then things changed. The young lot grew, exams, career and hence the summer holidays were not possible anymore. More over as we grow we learn one thing that a family is tied together by the head of the family “The Grandfather “.

Once the grandfather passes away, things changes. The otherwise happy close knit family got busy. The grandma is left alone. The boys decide not to leave her alone in the village. No matter how many differences the boys share they alternatively took care of their mom.

The daughters in laws were not used to having a mother in law in their houses. And believe me a mother and mother in law is never the same for ladies. No matter what the grandma said they never took it their heart but at times it just gets out of control.

The ladies grow but their attitude of bitching never changes. They need to bitch something or other. Their mouths never shut. Even if their mouths shut the mind keeps thinking something or the other. All that my grandma used to do was talk about others. They are like this, they did like this. And the same bitching comes back to them someday or other. Haunt them. Today because of the constant back bitching the grandma is seen as a problem rather than as an elderly person who will spread smiles around.

The grandma was never happy/satisfied with what their sons/daughter s in laws did for her.

Why don’t people grow up and understand the situations and behave similarly….

This bitching/attitude is hated by the brothers. The brothers were caught between a mom and wife. Helpless souls they were. They can’t ditch one for the other either.

PS: I am a lone son of my mother. Guess I don’t have to face this problem.

The pursuit part One

This post I was supposed to write on 30^th October 2011. But today I reached the peak of my emotions. I decided to get it out of my system like forever. I overheard my mother saying that she is getting engaged. I don’t know if that is what I heard but things were long over between us.

You might wonder why 30^th October. Well last year on the same day I was supposed to board Brindavan express from Bangalore to Chennai to reach home for diwali. But her thoughts gripped my brain hard. The girl I loved had taken over my body and mind. I was famished by her so much that I stood there lost among the sea of people at the railways ticket counter.

The unreserved ticket counter is like hell but I was feeling the warmth of heaven. The screen in front of me flashed Hubli intercity was to leave at 1PM. My train was supposed to leave at 2:30. I thought I have all the time in life to think about her. At 12:50 PM in the heat I reached the counter and took ticket.

I ran. Ran to the 10th platform. The train was full. People flocked and occupied seats as it was treasure. I roamed the full length of train in search of a place. I found. I was happy. I asked my next seat gentleman, “When ll I reach the destination “. He told, “ye bailgadi hai!! “. I asked, “Bhai saab, Time?? The other guy told 9 – 9 30. I thanked and put on my headset and I was lost in my world. The soothing music took me back to her. My love. Here I come.

The place was new. People were new. The stench of pan was new. My battery was running low. It read 22 miscalls. From 4 different numbers a collective miscalls. Mom/Dad/Sis/Soon to be my Bro in law also had called. I was scared. Last thing I wanted was my family to call me. And I never received their call in fear of being caught. I wasn’t supposed to be in Chennai till 2^nd Nov. So my plan to surprise them would be revealed if they hear the train noises I thought.

For the sake of surprising them I ended up scaring them like shit. Alighting from the train all tired, I searched for a hotel/restroom. Finding one was hard. It was 10PM when I reached and not even one soul I knew. Never thought it would be this late. My cell was running out of charge and so was my purse. I encashed 600Rs from the SBI ATM and walked out with an empty stomach in search of a place to crash.

My phone was beeping. The battery status was empty. Same time my phone rang. A 10 min call with all four people, convinced them I was at my friends place studying. And walking through those pan stained pathway was just yuck. And I thought let’s face it for one last time. The next train for Bagalkot was a 4:30 AM in the morning and next bus was at 6. I was stuck. The clock was nearing 10 PM. I hopelessly wandered around the Hubli station. I couldn’t find a place to stay overnight. I entered back in the station. No food joints, no water. Scared of the new place with pocket full of money I found a bench on platform one and tried to close my eyes thinking of a beautiful morning.

Time has changed for this man. The infamous Anna Hazare also known as the anti corruption crusader is on TV more often than any other politician. So why is he not joining politics?

The party in power is been provoking him since don’t know when. But neither Team Anna nor Anna himself is keen to setup a political party and enter mainstream politics. During the fast for Jan Lokpal Bill , he used to tell the people gathered around Ramlila ground that he is fasting for the sake of people , he is fighting for the wellfarement of people. His life is for the betterment of people. So isn’t this a superb opportunity for him and Team Anna to take charge of the situations. They are not small by any means. Team Anna I believe is more revered and followed than our Team India (think sports!!).

Why does his team say that Anna ji ko politics mein interest nahi hai??

Anna Haraze is the man who told he is alive for the people. His life is for the people. So why that is this very famous social activist fighting for the people overcoming/not getting influenced by his own personal views/life is rejecting to be a part of Indian Politics.

Is he afraid of losing the elections? Is he afraid of Congress/BJP?

No. He is not. If today he decides to form a political party and is ready to contest elections, we know he ll win. He has a bigger following not only in his village but in the whole of India. So there is no reason for him to be afraid of other political parties.

I have seen so many of his interviews; everybody asks Anna Ji politics kyun join nahi karte. And he has a standard answer for all. He says, “Jo mein bahar (outside politics) rehke kar sakta hoon , wo andar rahke nahi kar paunga.”

What does he mean?? Does he mean that being the PM of India is an incompetent job( MMS is an exception) . Is he afraid that he ll be influenced by the muck of Indian politicians/politics and end up as another Raja/Yeddy/Kalmadi?

Every day in the news the congress throws tantrums at him. Everyone takes a dig at him. Has he not got anything to prove them all? Is that why he has taken a “maun wrat “. Well let’s forget who backs Anna, be it RSS/VHP and some rich NGOs. But he is responsible to answer. Genuine questions they are. He doesn’t.

This hisar election, Team Anna decided to show what they can do staying outside politics. They created awareness among people of Hisar and created an anti-congress atmosphere. So isn’t this a political mode of Team Anna. When asked why congress? Why not other political parties? Team Anna says, “Congress is at the center so only and congress is not passing the janlokpal bill “. Aren't the other parties’ equally corrupt Anna ji? So why don’t you raise voice against corruption rather than political parties. It can become personal. Right. Wait!! Is that what is happening. So Instead of leading the people and enlightening them about whom not to vote, why shouldn’t you tell them “Vote for Team Anna “. Simple and effective.

Anna is ready to support to a political party that is corrupt free. For this to happen he has to make “Team Anna” a political party.

Are Anna / Team Anna happy criticizing the govt.? Don’t they want to take the responsibility of cleaning Indian Politics?

I guess this is the reason.

It’s quite common. We all do this, Don’t we. We are happy criticizing things. It is easier to do right. That is even I’m doing now by writing this blog post. But duly note the fact that I don’t have the following as Anna/Team Anna does.

We have problems; Team Anna could be the ultimate solution in 2014. But they are happy discussing about it.

Anna s may come, Anna s may go, But this is the India I know , This is the India my future ll know ……….

In this age of FB, send her a frannndship request on FB. Ok. I know many have done it. Many?? Ok fine all might have done it at some time of your life. And those who have not done it. You might wanna do it but lack guts to this also. Or you’re GAY…So take pride in what you have done to that beautiful girl you saw.

And this blog post is not for those serious stalkers. Please stay out. OK!!

I have heard somewhere that “Every Indian has a stalker in him “. So here I’m taking pride in myself being an Indian. Angrezo Just be happy I’m sparing you (fact is I’ve seen AP series, you are all way ahead of Indians: P).

So question 1: Whom do we stalk??

Usually that girl who doesn’t talk much to guys. Silent. Basically someone who is really beautiful and we find it hard to talk to.

Question 2: Why do we stalk?

Arre I’ve given the answer in the first questions only. Apart from that we are interested to know if that gal is committed or not. What is upto? Vagera vagera…: D

So what next? You sit in the corner. Stare at her. Yeah some do. Annoying @ times. This is better than sleeping in class.. Though at time we prefer sleeping.

The funny part of this is that the girl never realizes that we are stalking. So that we are guilt free. Ok you might wonder why I show up everywhere you are. See I blame it on destiny. Yeah Godly coincidence.

Ok I seem to go off topic. We are not physical stalkers. We are Technology stalkers. We use phone and computer. Yes this is what I wanted to write about actually.

We suffer from something called girlOphobia(Yes Oxford dictionary doesn’t recognize this word. So what?? ).

We send friendship request on facebook. (All girls on my facebook account, see I don’t stalk you all…. There is only girl currently though :P)

Usually she rejects. Oh we never lose our heart. We send again. Then reject and then ultimately BLOCK.

Paulo Coelho right said,” Life is all about follow, unfollow, Block “. So sometimes the girl accepts the request. Yeah what to do. Miracles Happens.

So next. Go like her photos, status, and what not. This is how it starts. Sometimes we chat on the annoying facebook chat. To be frank some are lucky they exchange phone number. Some end up in fairy tales. (I am Unlucky ). None of these happens quite often. But no denying though.

PS: To the gal I stalk. Many call me a stalker. And I just justified the populist s opinion in this post. But I call it LOVE… OK Don’t freak out now…: P

GOD seems to have lost it. Completely. 2011 has seen a so many talented/gifted people die. And in the past week it’s been on a high.

Today morning unusually twitter was abuzz with the unconfirmed news of Dennis Ritchie s demise a week ago. I was shocked to read that. Later I found that it was confirmed. He was 70.

For all who don’t know who Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie is, you might want to wiki his name and read about his achievements. He was an American computer scientist notable for developing C and for having influence on other programming languages, as well as operating systems such as Multics and UNIX.

I heard his name for the first time probably 6yrs ago when I first attended my computer science class during my schooling days. And I still remember his name. The reason being because I was told, he is the man responsible for the C programming language and the UNIX system. Back then I was a novice, but as I grew with my textbooks and CS engineering subjects I realized that “C programming language” was the backbone of most stuff.

It’s been almost 35yrs since his famous book was published. I still use that book for my reference. There could be no other book so simple. C language is something that is not going to fade away easily.

The android OS, iOS, windows, the UNIX all have been programmed with C in its core. So a life without C language is unimaginable.

The man who taught me the “Hello World” program has invoked a exit() function and bid “Goodbye World”.

RIP " The Ghazal King"

Jagjit Singh, he was rightly known as “The Ghazal King”. It might be quite unusual for me to put up this post. But to say the least I grew up listening to his tracks. Whenever I used to visit my grandparents I ended up listening to him on a regular basis. My granddad was a huge fan of Hindustani Music and Ghazals. When small all I remember was sitting in front of that old tape recorder and watching the cassette play. The voice of Jagjit sir was so soothing that most of the times I used to fall asleep right there.

This interest of my grandfather was instilled in my father as well. Soon after my grandfather’s death, my dad brought home all those cassettes which his dad used to listen. The songs when played the members of the house used to sit in silence and listen, such was the peace and bliss we used to reap out of his music.

As I grew and entered my teens the interest grew. I now began to understand those lyrics. To be frank no lyrics of any song can be as magical and pure as any ghazal song. The musical instruments used in any ghazal song are so minimal but the sound of each instrument echoes in our ears giving the perfect mix with the lyrics.

Jagjit singh is the one to be credited to bring ghazal music to the forefront. He battled the likes of Rafi , kisore da in the 70s and 80s. His film albums Arth(1982) and sath sath(1982) are still so evergreen and I listen to them along with my father . My personal fav ll be “ Tum itna jo muskara rahe ho “and "Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar" from Arth and his duets with his wife chitra were also melodious. And from the film saath saath the tracks "Pyar Mujh Se Jo Kiya Tumne" ,"Tum Ko Dekha To Yeh Khayal Aaya" were blissfully beautiful. Oh all his tracks were awesome.

He managed to bridge the gap between youth and ghazals. All credit to his velvet voice and beautiful lyrics.

The tracks like “Hosh walon “from Sarfarosh or “Koi Fariyad “from Tum bin were huge hits among youths.

Today that man is no more. He lost his battle against life after two surgeries, he suffered from brain hemorrhage and despite having so many family problems he found success.

An era of beautiful pure voice comes to an end .

A sad day it is.

RIP Jagjit Singh.

AAKASH: The cheap Tablet

Yes you heard me right; the cheapest tablet in the world has been named AAKASH meaning SKY. Yes launched in India on 5^th oct 2011 , the day that ll be remembered for Apple Man Steve Jobs than Kapil Sibal releasing this tablet.

So cheap means it costs only $35 i.e. approx Rs1750. isn’t that cheap?? An android 2.2, 7” tablet for just a little over Rs1500 is quite affordable.

Best part of the tablet is it ll carry a “Made In India” tag. Though most of the parts have been procured from outside. But still assembled in Hyderbad , Andhra Pradesh. So this is a complete desi product. This is what Mr.Sibal had to say during the launch.

The rich have access to the digital world, the poor and ordinary have been excluded. Aakash will end that digital divide.

So these are the specs I got off the AAKASH TABLET official website.

The problems hindering its success are many.

· First is that the $35 model ll not support inbuilt cellular modem nor sim to access internet. So the only way to access internet is Wi-Fi hotspots and USB dongles. And since this tablet is targeted at poor students or to say student with limited resources the Govt should think about providing better mobile network facilities.

· Wi-Fi hotspots in cities are so rare. Will a village have Wi-Fi hotspots??

· The $60 model ll have support for both inbuilt modem and sim facilities but the network ll still be a problem. The village where my father grew up still runs a GPRS rather than EDGE. Forget streaming videos viewing simple sites can be irritating.

· So for an android device to work with full functionality internet is must. Apart from spending 1750rs, ll the middle class be able to afford the USB dongles again at extra money.

· At present only AIRCEL is supported with the device. That is Rs 98/2GB data plan. This is not the 3G plan for sure. I have a 3G phone but still I don’t use a 3G plan because ill have to shell out more money for that. The Govt must first ensure the 3G rates are less. :P

· Next thing is that it has a 2100mAh embedded battery, means it can’t be removed. And the backup is very poor. Only 3hrs. Huh??

Yeah only 3hrs. You heard it write. Major cities have power shortages and the situations in village are horrible. So people ll have it plugged in most of the time for better usage.

· Android 2.2 is not bad and I don’t have to say anything about android either. But the worth thing to note here is that the maker of the tab have removed the Android Market and replaced it with their own market/apps.

· This is a perfect move considering the fact that the AAKASH is not a powerhouse. It runs on a 366Mhz(I never new they still manufacture such slow processor) and having so many apps running simultaneously is not advised. And the apps that are provided within the tab are nice and correct for the students.

· Screen is resistive 800*480… this is dull, but for a tab to be cheap using resistive screens was the idea.

· I don’t know how many of the students are gonna buy this , I am sure even if parents ll be interested in buying it. Probably it should be distributed for free just like how jayalalitha the CM of TamilNadu has planned to distribute free laptops.

· Don’t expect hardware like accelometer or g sensors on this tab.

· Personally I feel 366Mhz is enough for running most of the apps they have provided. But still the specs make this Tab look outdated. Don’t know how much the govt has spent and how much has been pocketed by the ministers themselves. But such cheap tabs are available in china with better specs J

· Finally this Tab is not an ipad killer for sure :P this tab is for the students , esp for the students of the villages and small cities where they cannot afford the ipad or galaxy tabs or laptops.

· It would be interesting to see if AAKASH is a success considering the fact that it is an outdated product in any dept and for its specs. But one thing to be proud of it that it is “MADE IN INDIA “ product.

PS: Wish the Govt had spent the money on providing better educational facilities and hygiene in rural places rather than provide them with an electronic gadget and expect them to read and obtain gyan from it.

Chetan Bhagat : Author s Review by a Cynic

For the readers.. This piece of blog post is not a review of Chetan Bhagat India’s bestselling novelist‘s latest book Revolution 2020. So why am I writing this when I have not read his latest book? Why shouldn’t I??

Well what I know about him?? An IIT/IIM grad, a writer… Enough right?

I learnt about Chetan Bhagat only when 3 idiot’s promos were out on TV. *Serious*. So I thought I might want to read that book before watching the movie. Getting his books is not that tuff. Just borrow from your friends; everyone is his fan you see. Well half way through the book I ended up watching the movie and never read it.

Ok fact is I’m not a reader. I still haven’t finished Paulo Coelho‘s “The Alchemist “. So I never cared about his second book either. Yeah I ended up watching the movie instead. By this time I guessed his content and write up. He became predictable I guess. I always wondered what new is that he writes. His books are typical bollywood tales with masala climax like his 3^rd book. The one mistake I did was to read 3 mistakes. No wonder he connects to the youth. His books revolve around the youth protagonists, love, some masala. That’s it. Right. Nothing new. His 4^th book was no different. Yes I read his 3^rd and 4^th book completely. L It was just a day’s affair. Not much to remember about the characters like those Dan Brown books. Not much of complexity in his writing. Nothing new as usual, the same old love, gal, sex stuff…. Youth connect to such things. So only he is the “Youth Icon”. He has written but repeatedly written the same stuff. Nothing inspiring in his writing. There are many chetan bhagat type of writers but nobody have been so successful as him. What is more depressing is that he seems to have stuck in his bollywood style of writing. With 4 books down I expected him to rise above the filmy stuff and write something serious. But Revolution 2020 is the sadly of the same genre, same thing. I guess I’ll wait for the movie instead.

He has learnt the way of commercializing his books and make money. The better part of his books is fun, entertainment, masala. He gets beautiful actress to release his books.

Probably best thing Mr Bhagat can do is stop writing and commenting on people are actually do things. Yes he can direct movies based on his scripts instead of writing and publishing his books selling them for cheap 80bucks and then expecting someone like “The Khans” to make them into some amazing movies and earn money :P :P

Might be this is his way of making money. IIM way: D

I would prefer watching a masala movie rather than waste time reading his books. I get to listen to such stories on a daily basis in the neighborhood. The books/ novels need to be educative, make a person reading it think rather than just entertain.

Procedure:

Download Make Your Clock widget from the link given below and install it on your Android device.
Tap and hold on the Home Screen, go to Widgets and scroll down to Make your Clock Widget.
Select from the list of 8 widgets depending on your need of rows and columns required for the widget.
You’ll be greeted with a pop up. Tap on Editor to start Editing your own clock , or go to your Application Drawer and launch ‘MYC Gallery’ to download a list of pre-configured templates.

All filmstars be it movie , tv , theatre artists , musicians need to reveal how much they get paid.
Every one associated with the movie , album need to be accountable for the money they have amased.

I know these are not possible , seems dumb….but these are some common things that we middle class humans waste our money on….
